All, Thank you to all that helped with the band last Friday! So far if it isn't raining, it is frigid cold! Fortunately this Friday looks to be clear of any rain. I'll continue to monitor the weather to see if we need raincoats for an additional layer. Uniforms Friday we will wear our purple uniforms. Dress in layers under your uniform. No hoodies. Beanies/sock hats (what ever you grew up calling them) are permitted if they are school colors. White, purple or black are acceptable. All,
Thank you for a great marching band regular season! It was extremely rewarding to watch the band grow and progress through the learning of our 2021 competition show. This wouldn't have been possible without the booster support, school support and students! Thank you! As we transition into football band it is important to make one thing clear. Attendance is MANDATORY for playoff games. It is my hope that we can pull Script Tigers out of hibernation and get this going for a few games. the caveat here is that attendance is everything for a successful Script Tigers. I understand that things do happen out of everyones control and situations do arise. With that said, the "no questions asked" excused absences are only: 1, Death in the family 2. Personal Illness (this includes quarantine) Over the last two years we have seen an increase in frivolous or questionable unexcused absences. Examples include but are not limited to: work concerts poor grades home work due baby sitting siblings no call, no show (the worst of all) We want all our members to have great grades and jobs, but it is imperative that you manage your time wisely. Keep in mind that Marching Band is a class and all students receive a participation grade for the class. It also puts fellow members in difficult situations when we rely on one another to perform at our best. Please make sure to submit planned absence forms early in the week as we navigate the football Post season. Uniforms For the remainder of the playoff season we will wear our normal purple uniforms. Layers of clothing are encouraged in order for kids to remain warm, however please avoid wearing hoodies and sweats. Long underwear/running tights/leggings and compression wear will insulate much more effectively than bulky hoodies and sweat pants. This in turn will keep you warm and not break uniform protocol. Timeline 3:10 - Dress rehearsal on band practice field 4:10 - Dismiss. Take instruments with you! 5:30 - Report to Ridgeview parking lot. Students park in grass lot closest to C3 church. (on the ridge)* 5:45 - Warm-up 6:25 - Parade from Ridgeview parking lot. Students park in grass lot closest to C3 church. (on the ridge)* 6:45 - pregame (combined with Hilliard Bradley Band) 7:00 - Kick-off *I want to continue to encourage SAFE car-pooling and/or parent drop off. In the event of a loss uniforms will be returned that same night. Volunteers Amy Menke - Nurse Jeff and Jessica Hansen Mark and Kelly Brick Diane Ouimet Erin Gorgas Curtis Richardson All, I hope your students had a great time last Saturday! I was supremely exhausted by the end of the day but felt a huge sense of accomplishment when it was all over and the kids were home. Many of the students had the same sentiment. In the larger picture, Saturday was an unplanned test of resiliency and determination for members of the Marching Tigers to push through a long day. Coming off of 1.5 years of doing close to nothing, I'd say they handled the challenge quite well. We are all very pleased with their behavior and the results of our competitions. Uniforms The weather is going to present a problem for us this weekend. For uniforms, I have a Plan A and Plan B in place for Friday. Friday Plan A - Normal Purple uniforms, possible addition of rain coats. (This is for light rain/ decent field conditions) Friday Plan B - Jeans, layers of clothing to keep warm, tennis shoes, rain coats. (If field conditions won't allow us to march.) I will make this determination Friday. Students should be prepared for both options. Saturday - White Pants, socks and shoes. Do NOT wear hoodies under your uniform. Friday Timeline 3:10 - Dress rehearsal on band practice field 4:10 - Dismiss. (on the ridge)* 6:50 - pregame 7:00 - Kick-off *I want to continue to encourage SAFE car-pooling and/or parent drop off. 9:30 - Students return raincoats to band room to be hung and dried. State Marching Band Finals The Marching Tigers will be performing at Hilliard Bradley High School on October 30th at 8:30pm. It is a great site for State Contest. I have included a link to the OMEA website with plenty of information regarding Tickets, Parking, Schedule, T-shirts, etc. Saturday Timeline

We have a tremendously long yet rewarding weekend ahead of us. On Friday we celebrate the Senior's "Last" home game and conclude our district competition season with a double header to Lancaster High School and Nelsonville-York High School. Uniforms It is very important that students are take extra caution to keep their uniforms nice and clean over the next 3 performances. We do not want any accidents. As the weather turns hot chocolate might seem like a good idea during our 3rd quarter breaks but it truly isn't worth the risk! Friday is our full Purple Uniforms and Saturday is all white! Be sure to bring your garment bag for protecting your uniform on the bus from any dirt and grime when not in uniform Saturday. Good day Marching Tiger families,
We have a busy weekend ahead of us. I want to take a moment to go over expectations and give everyone the timeline for the Buckeye Invitational this Saturday. In an effort to accommodate all the students involved in the Musical and the County Fair we will not attend the football game at Lancaster High School. We will do a quick 2 hour practice on Friday then dismiss for the evening. Uniforms Our uniform for Saturday is the dress white pants and socks. It is imperative that all our students wear their WHITE show shirt and light colored shorts. Unlike other performances, we will travel with our garment bags. All members will hang their uniforms in their garment bags before returning to Ohio Stadium to watch the rest of the show. Everyone is encouraged to wear PHSC apparel while seated in the stadium. I also encourage everyone to bring any weather appropriate gear. Temperatures may be colder once the sun sets. Expectations for all Marching Tigers in Ohio Stadium - Once we have concluded our performance we will meet at the Rotunda for a band photo. - After the photo we will begin our load-in procedures and change out of our uniforms. - We will meet at the band trailer as one unit then enter the stadium when all of the loading and changing is finished. - We will enter the stadium and find seats for the entire band towards the North end of the home side on A deck. - Students are expected to be in a seat with the band when not getting concessions or using the restroom. There is to be ZERO horse play. - If leaving the group for concessions or restrooms I expect students to be in groups of 2 or more. If any student is found wondering alone a Director, Staff member or Chaperone has the responsibility of escorting the student back to the group. - Students are expected to cheer for performing bands when appropriate. Be positive and supportive of all the groups who have earned the invitation to perform in the Shoe. - No outside food or drink is allowed in Ohio Stadium. Students should plan to eat dinner on their own. Note: The stadium has a NO CASH policy this year. Food prices are expensive in the Shoe. Plan accordingly. - We will stay for the entire show though the OSUMB performance and awards. - At the conclusion of the evening we will exit as a band. Do not load the busses until the chaperones have logged you as present on the bus. Timeline for Saturday 11:00 - Dress Rehearsal 12:30 - Load, eat (packed lunch), Change into uniform 1:30 - Depart for OSU 2:30 - Arrive at OSU 3:30 - Meet Host move to warm-up 3:45 - Warm-up 4:30 - Leave warm-up 4:45 - Perform 5:15 - Photo in the Rotunda 5:30 - Load/change 6:00 - Meet at band trailer to walk into the Shoe 6:15 - Sit as a group on A-deck towards the North end of the stadium on the home sideline. All the funds collected will be donated to the RMHC to purchase house supplies and consumable products for guests of the Ronald McDonald House. Watching our students learn to serve is always one of the more enjoyable days of the year. This week is Homecoming with an added bonus of having 8th grade night during pregame. There will be no halftime performance of our competition show this week. I will watch the weather and announce if we will attempt a post game show after the conclusion of the game. Let me cover the logistics for the game and uniforms then I will cover briefly the plan for the Buckeye Invitational. Uniforms We will wear our full purple uniform on Friday. Friday Timeline 3:10 - Dress rehearsal on band practice field 4:10 - Dismiss. Take instruments with you! 5:30 - Report to Ridgeview parking lot. Students park in grass lot closest to C3 church. As many of you know today is the deadline for Freshmen or new students to make a deposit through the MyGateway portal. If you made a deposit 2 years ago, your next payment isn't due until November and should have received an email from Gateway. Please check your spam folders if you did not receive any communication from the travel company. My hope is if you have forgotten to make your deposit we can still get those in ASAP. Making a deposit helps us plan for the size and of our tour, the number of charters and the number of tickets we purchase for concerts etc. Parent Volunteers for Friday Thank you Parents! Kelly Brick Patricia Manley Amy Menke Patty Richardson Erica Dann Robin Saionzkowski Sherry Granata Jessica Hansen Good Morning Marching Tiger Families, We had a fantastic weekend last week. The weather was great, the bands were great and the booster clubs did an amazing job running our show. Both, visiting band directors and judges were very complimentary of how organized and professional our show was managed. Uniforms We need students to bring in their white pants no later than Wednesday so that we can get them organized for the Buckeye invitational later next month. This Friday for the away game at Central Crossing we will be wearing our purple uniform. Traveling to Central Crossing We will attempt our first "Load and Go" of the season to Central Crossing. What this means is there will not be a dress rehearsal immediately after school. Students will simply report per the timeline, load equipment and busses then we are off! This is a common maneuver later in the season when we are traveling long distances for playoff games, but it does have inherent risks. Directors and chaperones are not responsible for forgotten uniform pieces and instruments. Students must be responsible and ensure their equipment is loaded and uniform is complete. If you see your child marching without an instrument or in partial uniform hopefully you can conclude on your own what has happened... Friday @ Central Crossing Timeline 4:30 - Report and load Equipment 5:15 - Section leaders do uniform checks, and load busses 5:30 - Depart for CCHS 6:15 - Arrive at CCHS 7:00 - Kick off 9:30 - Depart for PHSC *Tentative 10:15 - Arrive at PHSC *Tentative Ronald McDonald House Charity Fundraiser The Marching Tigers have a long history of using their skill sets to help others. Every year we set aside 2 hours to busk for the Ronald McDonald House. (Busking: the activity of playing music in the streets or public place for voluntary donations.) Donations collected from the morning are then donated to the RMH next to Children's Hospital on Parsons Ave. This is not a fundraiser for the Marching Tigers. This is one of my personal favorite days of the year. Teaching our children to use their time and talents to help others is one of the more important lessons we can share with them. Logistics for Saturday Morning - Students take their instruments home Friday after the football game - Students report to their assigned McDonalds, ready to play at 9am - Students wear PHSC spirit wear. - We will perform for 2 hours - Students will be picked up at 11am - The band room will be open until 11:45 for students to return instruments if necessary Parent Volunteers for Friday night

First and foremost I want to say thank you to all of the parents/boosters that attended the Canal Winchester Classic and helped cheer, roll, push, transport, chaperone this past Saturday. An audience cheering for the band truly helps the band in so many ways. It was an unbelievably hot weekend for a contest, thank you for all the support! Uniforms Students will need their purple uniform and black socks for Friday night. Saturday will be competition pants and white socks. Students need to remember to wear a white t-shirt under their jackets. NO TANK TOPS OR CUT-OFF T-shirts. (We are getting better with our uniform prep! Thank you!!) Friday Timeline 3:10 - Dress rehearsal on band practice field 4:10 - Dismiss. Take instruments with you! 5:30 - Report to Ridgeview parking lot. Students park in grass lot closest to C3 church. Please invite your family and friends to attend and support the Marching Tigers. (Yes, I know the Buckeyes are playing, but our tickets are WAY cheaper than theirs.) The booster clubs have been working very hard to organize a great show. If you get a chance, please say thank you to a Tiger or Panther Booster. This is a time consuming project for them, both clubs have done a great job collaborating. Not all booster clubs in town get along as well as our two band booster clubs do. The most important bit of parent information on Saturday night is transportation for the Marching Tigers is "one-way". Parents must pick-up their student at Pickerington NORTH at the end of the contest. This serves multiple functions, it encourages parents to come and support their child/children and saves money in our transportation budget. The band room will be open after the show if students want to return instruments that night. Tickets for the event are $7 per person. However, the boosters are still in need of additional volunteers. If you consider that volunteers get free admission and parents need to pick-up their child after the contest, it only makes sense for you to volunteer TODAY! It will cost $0 to help the band, see the show and pick-up your child! Saturday Timeline 2:00 - Dress rehearsal at PHSC 4:15 - Load/Change/Snack 5:15 - Depart for PHSN 5:45 - Arrive at PHSN 6:35 - Meet Host 6:40 - Warm-up 7:25 - Depart for Stadium 7:45 - PERFORM 8:15 - Awards (Seniors help present awards) 8:30 - Load percussion equipment, sound equipment, props. ****Students are dismissed to their parents after Band Fest. I will try my best to be concise. We will be hosting Hilliard Bradley this Friday at home in a televised game on Spectrum. Be sure to take note of the start time change to 7:07 and set your DVR's. Uniforms On Friday our uniform is purple pants with black socks. (no ankle socks!) Saturday our uniform is full white uniforms. For the students this means you will wear your white bibbers. White bibbers will be picked up Saturday morning after our dress rehearsal. Word of warning: any colorful, bright shorts will show through the white pants. Be sure to avoid ultra bright shorts under your uniform. White socks must be worn on Saturday as well. Continue to work hard to get your snap hems at the correct height. We had less gathering last Friday but still need to correct a few. ISO: We have 1 pair of tuxedo pants that we need stitch hemmed. If you have this skillset and are willing to hem 1 pair of pants, please contact Mr Stowe, Vanessa Niekamp, Robin Saionskowski or Katie Kirtin. Friday Timeline 3:10 - Dress rehearsal on band practice field 4:10 - Dismiss. Take instruments with you! 5:30 - Report to Ridgeview parking lot. Students park in grass lot closest to C3 church. Canal Winchester Classic info The CW Classic is located at Canal Winchester High School. The contest starts at 12pm. The Marching Tigers perform at 2:45 with awards to follow soon after. Tickets are $8 per person. Directions and additional information can be found at their contest website: Students are encouraged to eat a substantial breakfast Saturday morning and pack a light sack lunch to eat before we get into our uniforms. Students are encouraged to travel with their water jugs all day on Saturday. We will have water with us as well but not enough to keep the entire band hydrated. Staying hydrated on Saturday will allow us to have a stress-free successful first contest.

We had a great game this past Friday and had awesome weather for the Labor Day parade. Doesn't get much better than that! This week we have our first away game so our Friday timeline will look different. In addition to having a different looking timeline we are doing a combined pregame with the North Pride, so we must arrive even earlier than a typical away game. Uniforms Quick reminder, uniforms are now at home in your possession. They still need to be dry-cleaned roughly every other use. We have a deal with Tide Cleaners in town to have our uniforms cleaned for $6. This covers the entire uniform. If you only need to get a single piece dry-cleaned the price will be $3 per piece. Please take advantage of this deal through Tide. A good smelling student is a happy student! We will wear our full uniform with purple pants on Friday. Many students on Friday were still not able to get their snap hems at the correct length. Parents can you please help address this by having your child put their bibbers on and adjusting the hem so that there is no gathering of fabric at the ankle. This will be of great help for us and keep us looking sharp! A few corrections about uniform protocol. Students should wear a white t-shirt or section shirt under their fall uniform. At no point should student have their jackets off during the game. The only exception would be the battery when they are taking off their harness's. (But the battery should be putting their jackets back on immediately.) Friday Timeline 3:10 - Dress Rehearsal on band field. 4:10 - Eat a quick snack, change into uniforms, load equipment. 5:15 - Load school busses 5:30 - Depart for North High School 5:50 - Arrive at North High School (parent volunteers meet us at Lakeview at this time) 6:30 - Parade into the stadium 6:45 - Combined Pregame w/North Pride 7:00 - Kick-off TBA - Bus Departure Bussing Expectations When on the busses we are guests of Petermann Transportation. Their rules are to be followed at all times. My rules to for bussing are: 1. No food or drink other than water. 2. Headphones are to be used at all time for music/cellphones. 3. Be quiet, calm and courteous at all times. 4. Bus hopping is not allowed. 5. Chaperones are to be respected and listened to at all times. 5 1/2. Mr Hakes would like to add "NO SCREAMING" Saturday Morning Practice We are practicing Saturday morning. It is MANDATORY and vital for being prepared for our first competition on September 18th. I am aware of the conflict with the ACT, those students are obviously excused. All other students are expected to be in attendance and ready to solidify our show for our first competition. Parent Volunteers Due to the shortness of our trip to North we will only need help taking attendance getting on the busses. No need to ride with us. As always, thank you!
