I'd first like to start this FYI by saying, thank you to everyone who has made the band a priority and have helped give the kids something to look forward to up to this point. If you get a chance, please send anyone of these awesome people a note of encouragement and especially the boosters and staff for making many of the details possible. I can't show my appreciation enough and I'm extremely thankful to have such wonderful people supporting and believing in this program.
As we move into next weeks practices its important that students continue to practice social distancing and use face coverings when not participating in the activity. We showed improvement from day one, however we need to continue to show growth in this area.
Next week's schedule
Students should still report to practice on Sunday evening, July 19th, 6PM - 9PM. The Booster Board will be there to collect forms, and fees.
Please note SCHEDULE CHANGE FOR MONDAY - FRIDAY.
Due to an effort to reduce contact time among band students to something more similar to other fall activities, practice will be from 8am-11am, Monday through Friday. The evening sessions have been cancelled completely. Finally, the board will be at the school Monday morning to collect remaining forms and fees.
After Next week
Looking ahead, we will have our traditional shutdown so that custodians can begin the cleaning of the band room floors and 500 halls. Band will pick back up in the evenings starting on August 3rd in the evenings. August rehearsals will take place on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings until school starts.
In addition to cleaning out the uniform room, the uniform moms will have show t-shirts from previous years for sale for $5, duffle bags that were incorrectly labeled with a name (you will need to cover/fix the embroidered name yourself) for $10, and we have 3 car flags for $10 each. Pictures of items will be posted on Facebook group Friday or Saturday. I will let the boosters specify when these items will be available for sale.
If there are any questions on the schedule for the week please contact me at email@example.com
Best wishes and have a great Saturday off!!!
We had a great first rehearsal with the band. Students were socially distant when engaged in the activities and by the end of the day smiling!
With that said, there are some modifications that must take place. The wellness screener check and attendance take time to do it accurately. Tomorrow we will be checking-in for the morning in waves to mitigate the line that developed this morning. Please plan to exit your vehicle or time your arrival according to the times listed below.
Arrival times by grade
Freshmen - 7:45am
Sophomores -8:00 am
Juniors - 8:15am
Seniors - 8:30am
Students will still do the following in this order.
1. Do CV screener the morning of practice (before you leave your house)
2. Arrive at the planned arrival time listed above
3. Check-in at the picnic table (IF THERE IS A LINE YOU MUST BE PHYSICALLY DISTANT AT ALL TIMES)
4. Walk to dot under the tent
5. Set up equipment for the day
6. Stay on your dot and wait for rehearsal to begin
From a protocol perspective tomorrows emphasis will continue to be on those anticipated transitional times when not engaged in the activity. Social distancing and face coverings during transitions will eventually become habit for everyone. We did good for the first day, we can do better tomorrow!
DON'T FORGET YOUR FOLDING STANDS!
