I understand this is a large contest and families might be going together to make an evening of the event. With that said, please contact me if you are available and a level 2 volunteer. Thank you to those who submitted their availability and are traveling with the band on Saturday.

Marching Tiger Families and Students,
Volunteering I want to start by saying thank you to all the parents and students that volunteered their time at band fest this past weekend. A famous band director from Pickerington used to always say, "The greatest gift anyone can give is your time." I thank you for that gift and I encourage everyone to volunteer in the future. It is a great feeling when you know you've contributed in some way to the bands success. Friday Football Tiger football is home this weekend vs. Hilliard Davidson. Our schedule for Friday is similar to last week. Uniform is our football purple and black socks. No ankle socks. Disbanding NO Post game show Friday. At the end of the game please walk in large groups or carpool back to the High School safely. Parents continue to do a good job of parking out in the actual parking lot when waiting for your students. Please leave the cove/drive way clear for equipment vehicles. Friday Schedule 4:30 Students report to the field 5:15 Load/Change 6:15 Parade Block in LT lot 6:20 Parade to Tiger Stadium 6:35 Enter Tiger Stadium 7:00 Pregame 7:07 Kick-off Saturday Saturday the Marching Tigers will perform in Ohio Stadium for the Buckeye Invitational. We perform at 7:15pm. The first band in the contest takes the field at 10:00am. It's quite the contest! Students will eat on their own after we perform. The stadium prices are set very high. Please plan accordingly. I encourage everyone to check out the Invitational website for Parking/T-shirt/Pre-sale Tickets/ General information. All the information regarding a fun successful day can be found at the website. https://tbdbitl.osu.edu/events/buckeye-invitational-info Uniform Uniform is white pants and white socks. Please be sure that everyone has on white shorts under their uniform pants. Last weekend we had a few students not heed the warning regarding seeing bright colors through pants. Hair dye has become an issue this season. We now own a pink jacket and a green/blue jacket due to hair dye. Please remove all hair coloring moving forward as it is damaging our new uniforms. Small discreet studs must be used in replacement of large, flashy or colorful earrings. Be sure students are using their duffle bags for the intended purpose. In addition to various other items the duffle bags are for hat boxes and marching shoes. (Not the band room floor) Saturday Schedule 1:30 - Dress Rehearsal 3:15 - Load 4:30 - Depart 5:15 - Arrive @ OSU 6:15 - warm up 7:15 - Perform 7:45 - Load equipment/Eat on your own 9:00 - OSU performs 9:30 - Awards 10:00 - Load 10:15 - Depart 11:30 - Arrive @ PHSC Chaperones I will post the list of chaperones very soon. I'm still waiting on availability emails from Level 2 volunteers. It's going to be a great weekend for the Marching Tigers! All,
We had a great first week! The band sounded great, our show is in an appropriate place for this point in the season and we are improving every practice! We had some very small, understandable breakdowns in logistics from this past home game. For the next home game we need a few boosters to help with rolling in the podiums for pregame then at halftime rolling podiums and sound equipment in. During a competition we are only allowed so much time on the field. We need to be able to move with speed and precision just like a nascar pit crew! If you are willing to help out with this at games and contests please contact the band boosters. This week is a big one as it's our first away game and first contest at the Pickerington Band Fest! We are the last band to perform at 7:45. We need ALL our parents to attend and be extremely LOUD and PROUD of the Marching Tigers! Details regarding the game at Groveport-Madison High School. There is a new facility on the GMHS campus. The field location stayed the same but the traffic flow has changed. spectator vehicles are to turn right when turning on campus instead of turning left towards the old parking lot. The address for the High School is 4475 S. Hamilton Road Groveport, OH 43125. Students will be wearing their purple pants uniform. This means BLACK Socks! No short socks. Friday 4:00 Students report to the field 4:40 Load/Change/Pack 5:20 Depart 5:45 Arrive/unload 6:30 March to stadium 6:45 Load in Bleachers 7:00 Kick-off TBD Depart home Saturday will be a very busy day for many people. If you are volunteering thank you! We appreciate you! The band will have a longer than normal dress rehearsal on Saturday to prepare for our evening performance. Everyone needs to pack a calorie rich dinner to sustain themselves until after the contest. The Pick Band Fest is our home show. In an effort to save transportation money we transport the band 1-WAY. Please make plans to pick up your student at Pickerington North High School at the end of the event. The HS will be open for a short time while the trailer is unloaded. Kids have the option to drop horns then or wait until Monday. Students will be wearing their contest WHITE pants which means kids need to wear WHITE full length socks. No short socks. Saturday 2:00 Report 4:40. Dinner/snack break 5:00 Load/Change/Pack 5:40 Depart (one way trip for students) 6:00 Arrive 6:40 Warm-up 7:45 Perform 8:15 Awards 8:30 Load trailer and box truck If you have any questions please email me. Thank you and GO TIGERS! It's finally Game week! There are a few important things to discuss as this will be our first time out this year. Friday is a home game which makes things easier but it also requires quite a few logistical hurdles for the band members and boosters.
Food On Friday kids are dismissed at 2:55 from school. It is highly encouraged all students eat an early meal before the our report time. Uniform I've gone ahead and made the decision to use our summer uniforms for Friday due to the expected heat wave. Students will need to wear their white band shoes, no-show socks and appropriate undershirt/garments under their white band polos. All rules regarding accessories are to be followed. Headbands that do not match hair color will be removed. Colored fingernails will not pass inspection. Uniform moms will help remove any fingernail polish that is not clear. Piercing must be discreet, no hoops or colored ear rings of any kind. Nose or piercings on your face must be removed. This is all to maintain a uniform look and to demonstrate or discipline as a band visually. Parent Participation As we are preparing our show for the football season and competitions, we are in need of parents to assist in the set-up of the sound equipment, field commander stands, and the front percussion equipment for our performances. Each performance is timed and we receive penalties if not all the equipment is off the field. We encourage our parents to attend practices to know the set-up a head of time and to practice moving and assembling the equipment before an event. You must be available to help during half-time and at our competitions. Consistency is the key to this operation. Water Coolers Thank you for your generous donation of the bottle water during band camp week. Now it's time we start filling our coolers and taking it to the games and competitions. We are looking for volunteers to help assist in the process. Logistics will take care of moving the coolers to and from events. Disbanding For parents who might not know how we disband at the end of football games here is the short version. 1. It is up to the student to make their way back to the band room to hang uniforms and put equipment away. 2. I discourage students from walking alone back up to the High School. 3. I encourage students to safely walk in groups and or carpool legally back to the high school. 4. The band room will be the only part of the school that is unlocked after games. Parking Everyone wants to get their child out of the school and home as fast as possible after games and contests. I understand but please help by doing the following: Please do not park behind the band room or block the driveway during football games and band competitions. We will be loading and unloading equipment onto trucks from the bandroom. At home games, the Penske truck will be loaded and unloaded twice and taken to the stadium. The football bus will also be accessing the back of the fieldhouse. For the safety of your children, please make arrangements to drop-off or meet your child in the parking lot after the football games or competitions rain or shine! Timeline for Friday 4:00 - Dress rehearsal on the practice field. (be in summer uniform) 5:30 - Load equipment and make final preparations for the stadium 6:10 - Parade block in LT lot. 6:15 - Start Parade to Tiger stadium 6:30 - Enter Tiger Stadium 6:50 - Pregame 7:00 - Kick off Be sure to communicate with your child about when and how they are getting back to the High School. We are looking forward to a great season opener and sharing our show with everyone for the first time! Best wishes, Mr. Stowe |
