Good Morning Band Parents,
Battle of the Cohorts I'd like to take a minute to share some recent information regarding our charity project and some winter concert news. For those new to the program, The Marching Tigers have had a long standing tradition of helping out our local Ronald McDonald House. Each fall, we gather at two or three local McDonald’s and play pep tunes for monetary donations for the RMH. We have also collected toys, money, canned goods, and cleaning supplies at our annual Breakfast With Santa. As we all know, because of covid, we aren’t able to hold these two beneficial and fun events, but the RMH still needs our help so we have come up with an alternate plan. Battle of the Cohorts will take place the week of November 30-December 4. We are asking the children to donate some money, which will then be used to purchase some items off the Amazon wish list that the Ronald McDonald House has provided. There will be a specially marked container in the band room for your child’s cohort, in which to drop the money. Each year, the RMH has an event in which children can shop for gifts for their siblings and parents. Let’s help to provide the RMH with some items from their list for this worthy event! The other wish list is for everyday supplies that the RMH uses. Please encourage your child to donate a few dollars to help out our friends at the RMH! Also, remember to keep saving those pop tabs. Let’s help beat the Ann Arbor RMH. Every little bit helps. The pop tabs can be dropped off in the band room. Finally, I have attached the two wish lists. If you feel so inclined to purchase an item from the list, you can have it sent directly to the RMH. But also remember to encourage your child to help out as well, since they were not able to perform their community service at McDonalds this past fall. It is important to have our Marching Tigers give back to the community! Hope everyone has a happy and healthy holiday season. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3NDHC8J3VX5ZP/ref=cm_go_nav_hz https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2KMZYXCQ1M5HI/ref=cm_go_nav_hz Winter Concert After much consideration we have decided to move our winter concert virtual. We will NOT have an in-person concert on 12/10/20. We will be posting performances from both Cohort A and Cohort B at a later date. We have recording dates set and will post/share before we leave for winter break. This decision is for the High School only. It does not impact the Ridgeview band concert. As always please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns. Mr Stowe

Good Afternoon Marching Tigers and family,
Slowly but surely information is getting confirmed for Friday's game. Let me give everyone a brief rundown of what is known. Practice Practice will be immediately after school on Friday at 3:15. Students will need to arrive to school either in the morning or at 3pm, depending on their cohort, with everything they need for the event. Meal There will be built-in meal time at Central for kids to either bring a sack-dinner or purchase one through the booster club. Please look for an email from the club with details of the menu. Uniforms We will be wearing our uniforms for the last time of the season. We will wear full purple uniforms and will bring raincoats. Students did much better with wearing the correct socks and shoes at the New Philly game, thank you! Once the game is over and we've returned to Central students will be responsible for turning in all their uniform pieces for inventory, damage inspection and cleaning. Please be sure to return the following: 1. Hat and hat box 2. Jacket (on the hanger) 3. Purple pants (on the hanger) 4. White pants (on the hanger) 5. Raincoat (on the hanger) 6. Please see Ms. Allie for any color guard specific uniform returns Game Location and Tickets The game is located at The Fortress - 2015 Recreation Trail, Obetz, Ohio. Every band family will have the opportunity to purchase 2 tickets. Once the first wave of tickets is complete we will issue a second survey to get additional tickets on a first come first serve basis until our ticket allotment is used. The first ticket wave will begin tomorrow morning at 9am. Please order your first wave of tickets asap. This will help us get everyone to the game that wants to attend! Bussing Bus lists will remain the same for the game this Friday. As mentioned before there is zero bus hopping or bus changes. When on the bus it is required for everyone to wear their mask. Please follow the rules of the bus drivers. No personal speakers are permitted. No food is allowed on the bus. It's an exciting time to be a Tiger! Many details have been clarified and I appreciate everyone for being patient. Please read through this entire document to gather all the necessary info regarding Friday's game in New Philadelphia. Practice on Thursday Due to the distance we must travel on Friday we have to schedule an additional after school practice for Friday. We will be practicing on Thursday from 3:15-4:15. It's going to warm up and be very nice on Thursday. Please make time for this added rehearsal. Uniform The band will be wearing their full purple uniform. There is no need for rain coats and no need to wear additional winter weather hats. We witnessed a few students not wearing proper socks or shoes last week. Students must be in the proper black socks and white shoes. Keep in mind, students are responsible for their uniform pieces. Uniform moms can help with issues regarding uniform pieces, but they can not help if you have forgotten uniform parts when we travel! You are the only person who is responsible for your uniform pieces. Bussing expectations and protocols Student bus assignments will be made based on sections and seat availability. I have preassigned everyone in advance due to the timing of the event. There will be zero bus jumping or switching to different busses. Student's can find their bus assignment on the Google Classroom and posted in the band room on Wednesday. Everyone will be expected to follow these rules on the busses: - All students and chaperones must wear a mask at all time. - All Students and chaperones must remain 1 person to a seat. - There are to be no drinks other than water on the buses. - The Peterman bus company has a policy of no food or drink on the bus. Please adhere to this. - No audible music. Use headphones. - Be courteous and kind. chaperones are instructed to let us know of any incidences of disrespectful behavior. Friday Meal The booster club will be purchasing pizza and a drink for the members of the band during the 3rd quarter. Thank you boosters for doing this! Cohort B students might want to plan for an afternoon snack after school. TBD Student's are picked up by parent/guardian/ride. - It will be a very late arrival time back to PHSC. Make the appropriate plans to pick-up. Ticketing Many thanks goes out to New Philadelphia for being great hosts. Both their band director and athletic director attended my site inspection this morning. It's always good when a host says, "How can we help you make this work for the kids?" With that said, the physical limitations of the away bleachers in the stadium do not allow for any family tickets for our band parents. We realized this may be a disappointment to some, however, we must focus on the fact that we managed to make this opportunity possible for the kids in the band! Please keep a healthy perspective on this and find unique ways to support the band and team. Our game will be televised again this Friday. I will be sure to share this information as I obtain it! Go Tigers! |
