All,
Happy Thanksgiving to all the Marching Tiger families. We have so much to be thankful for this year! It's a blessing to work with so many great students, volunteers and colleagues. It would only make sense that we get to celebrate "Friendsgiving" together this Friday! We have a long trip ahead of us. We will be heading to Canton GlenOak High school. If you attended the New Philly Contest its roughly 40 minutes North of New Philadelphia. The same uniform expectations are in place for the entire ensemble this week. Students might want to consider bringing that travel pillow! Please make sure everyone arrives fed and hydrated. Timeline 2:30 - Band Room opens 2:45 - Equipment load/ get uniform pieces organized 3:20 - Load buses/Depart 6:00 - Arrive at GlenOak HS 6:40 - In Stadium 7:00 - Kickoff TBA - Return, (Please plan this carefully with your children) Chaperones TBA Good Morning!
Again, I'm 12 hours late on posting an FYI, my sincerest apologies. Last week's football game was an interesting one. We hit major traffic going into the downtown and spent a solid hour sitting in the left lane of 70 West. Olentangy Orange was gracious enough to provide the SSB for the game. If you have an opportunity to thank them, please do. This Friday's game is at St. Francis DeSales. It's location is also in a tough spot of Columbus. I caution everyone to check traffic when planning to attend the game. Uniform Huge shout out to uniform volunteers Vanessa and Katie for retrieving the faded raincoats from the cleaners. With the band absences and use of the faded coats they were able to provide an additional layer for the kids. I should also take a second recognize the efforts of all those who've volunteered to help with uniforms this season. It's a huge undertaking and greatly appreciated by everyone. Thank you. The students did much better this past Friday dressing for the weather. I would continue to encourage students to wear long black socks so that they can tuck in their layer under the purple bibbers into their black socks. Game and post game We are the visiting team this week and will not need to perform halftime. Per OHSAA regulations we will perform first at halftime. The weather is extremely cold when we return home after games. Parents/Guardians please make sure you have discussed a plan for pickup. Pick up your child in a timely manor. It is what's best for everyone. Timeline 4:30 - Load/Change 5:15 - Depart for DeSales 6:15 - Arrive 7:03 - Kick-Off TBD - Return to PHSC Chaperones Bus 1 Shelia Kelly Bus 2 Robin Crane Bus 3 Julie Brownfield Bus 4 Leah Varone Bus 5 Tom Mason Good Wednesday Morning,
This Friday Tiger Football will play in the second round of the Playoffs. We will be playing at Upper Arlington High School. The kickoff is at 7:00pm and the Central fans will be on the Visitor's side. Uniform This is going to be another cold evening of football. Students are expected to layer appropriately. We had a freshman show up wearing a single t-shirt layer to stand outside in 20 degree weather last Friday for hours. This is dangerous and we must dress appropriately. The staff needs the help of parents and guardians to ensure that the students are dressed appropriately. Many students had on hooded sweatshirts that were not white/purple/black. Because of the cold I allowed it to pass. This week I need everyone to make sure they layer in clothes that fit the uniform requirements. RED SWEATSHIRTS hanging out of uniforms will not suffice and I will ask the students to place their hoods back in their uniform every time. Other items that do not pass uniform inspection are sport team beanie hats, unzipped uniform pants, ANY ITEM THAT IS NOT SCHOOL COLORS. Students will be allowed to bring warm blankets for the stands only. Blankets must be folded and carried in by hand or in a small bag. Timeline 4:00 - Report/Dress rehearsal 5:15 - Depart 6:15 - Arrive at UAHS 6:40 - In Stadium 6:54 - Pregame 7:00 - Kickoff Chaperones Due to this being a very easy trip without the semi trailer hauling ALL of our sound and pit equipment we will operating with a very small booster group. Just enough to help with attendance and keeping the peace on busses. Bus 1 Rick Evans Bus 2 Patricia Manley Bus 3 Robin saionzkowski Bus 4 John Lawrence Bus 5 Vanessa Lawrence All,
We have officially made it to the post season. Thank you for everyone's help in making the 2019 competitive season a great success! The band achieved so much and I felt encouraged by their always positive attitude to work hard and grow. Post Season Marching Band Expectations Post season football is slightly different in that we will not perform our elaborate halftime show. We are still the marching Tigers and will be performing our much anticipated Script Tigers once the play (McBeth) has finished its run. This requires near perfect attendance and the support of parents and family to help get the students to the school on Fridays. We are currently trying to wrap up auditions for the band and will begin rehearsing concert band music for our holiday concert next month. In other words, we will be supporting the Tiger football team until the state championship game if necessary, but we will not be preparing other elaborate halftime shows for these games. Our focus is on the normal progression that is best for the Pickerington Central Band program. Post Season Uniform The post season uniform is always going to be purple pants and black socks. I will modify the uniform dress code to include neutral beanie hats. They can be white, black, purple. Please no logos of any kind unless they are for PHSC. Additionally, kids can wear a warm glove under their white band gloves. I highly encourage everyone to purchase or wear a thermal layer. The trick to staying warm is layering under the uniform. Friday timeline 4:45 - Dress Rehearsal 5:30 - Load/Change/ 6:15 - LT lot 6:20 - Parade 6:40 - Arrive in Tiger Stadium 7:00 - Kick off !!!! |
