Good Morning All, It is a special Friday edition of the FYI. Many things are in motion as we prepare for next season while still wrapping up the 23/24 school year. Here are a few reminders as we all prepare for summer. 1. The summer Calendar through band camp is up-to-date and current. The window for contest registration opens June 1st. I'll attempt to finalize those dates for everyone ASAP. Color guard and drum line rehearsals typically do happen in June, once I have those dates I will add to the calendar. 2. The boosters are in need of a few volunteers for next weeks Memorial Day Jazz Dinner. It is against board policies to have minors in the kitchens. Please check out this SUG and see if you are able to help serve our veterans and their families. May 23, 5pm, Dinner service starts at 6pm. New Summer Uniform After much discussion with parents and students we have decided to update the summer uniform. The goal being to make all students feel proud in their summer uniform but also have a uniform that is more versatile for other types of performance situations. I will explain the changes from head to toe! 1. Students will continue to be asked to wear their hair off their shoulders. Jewelry kept at a minimum. Any student wearing colorful or overly large jewelry will be asked to remove such items for the public performance. 2. Students will need to be sized for a new DriFit shirt with our band logo on it. This shirt will need to be kept by the student. (don't lose it!!!!) 3. Students will be asked to purchase or wear, if they already own a pair, of Khaki shorts. The shorts must have a Minimum of a 5 inch inseam. This is important as we want to keep our band members looking "respectable" during public performances. Boosters will keep a limited inventory of approved shorts for those who fail to meet the inseam requirement. Below I will include some cost effective options found on amazon.com. 4. Students will continue to wear their white tennis shoes with no-show socks. There is always confusion from year to year, these DO NOT have to be marching shoes, but they do need to be white tennis shoes. If your child only has white marching shoes (drill masters or similar) that is fine, the only requirement is white! Please email me with any questions or concerns!
