Good morning Marching Tiger families,
On Friday, March 11 the PHSC Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will attend OMEA Large Group Contest. It has been over 2 years now since we have attended OMEA large group contest for concert band. In short, the band will perform 2-3 selections for 3 OMEA judges for a rating and written critique. This evaluation is an integral part of the music education we provide each student.
As you read through this FYI be sure that you are looking at the correct timelines for your childs band. They are specific for each performing group!
Students are to wear "concert black". this simply means that we are going to dress in such a way so that we do not draw attention to any single individual, rather dress plainly so that the music is the focus.
Gentlemen are to wear black shoes, black socks, black pants, white collared shirt, dark tie, optional: vest/black jacket. Ladies are to wear black shoes, black dress/black pants/black skirt. The skirt/dress must be passed the knee. Black top, black shirt, black sweater. The shoulders must be covered and there should be none to almost no accent colors in the outfit. I will emphasize again, we wear concert black to draw attention to the music making, not the individuals making music! Wear concert black.
