The Marching Tigers had a fantastic performance this past Saturday. There must be something about the Canal Winchester stadium our band loves, this is the second year they have won the Canal Winchester Classic. As always we are very thankful for all those who volunteer to help! Week 7 is a challenging week because of all the additional events taking place. I will go though each event in calendar order. Thursday SCE Gig We have been asked to play a short gig at Sycamore Creek Elementary for their 10 year anniversary. Initially I asked leadership to play the gig. Since a large majority of our band come from SCE I have opened up the gig to leadership and anyone who went to Sycamore Creek Elementary. It's not a mandatory gig but is a great community service opportunity for the students. The dress is Pickerington Central gear and the report time is 5:15. The gig is only 30 minutes, 5:30-6:00. All students should take their instruments home after school (on Thursday) then bring them back Friday morning. Friday 8th Grade Night - Pregame Friday night we invite all the current 8th graders to perform pregame with the Marching Tigers. It's a special night for us as we welcome all perspective Marching Tigers into the family. Homecoming Announcement - Halftime At halftime the Marching Tigers will participate in the Homecoming celebration. We will Not be running a portion of the competition show. Competition Show Run - Postgame We plan on getting a full run of the competition show as soon as we can clear the field Friday night. Please plan on sticking around and supporting the Marching Tigers. The trade off is the late-night dismissal but it's worth the effort to make sure the band stays fresh on the new ending we are adding. 4:00 Report to the HS 5:30 Load and change 6:15 Line-up in the LT lot. 6:20 Parade to Tiger Stadium 6:35 Arrive at Tiger Stadium 7:00 kickoff Saturday Every year the band participates in a charity event supporting the Ronald McDonald House. We play for change donations at various McDonalds restaurants in Pickeringtion to help offset the living costs of those seeking treatment at Children's Hospital. It's a fantastic way for our students to learn how to be selfless, develop a concern for others and to help those in need. The band will perform for 2 hours with intermittent breaks starting at 9am and finishing at 11am. Students will need to transport their own instruments to their assigned location. I will post the band lists on the google classroom not on the blog to protect student anonymity. Your child will tell you what location they need to go to Saturday morning, thank you for your understanding. I will have the band room open until 12pm for students to return instruments to the band room. McDonalds location 1 1091 Hill Road North Pickerington McDonalds location 2 7620 Diley Road NW Canal Winchester Congratulations to Mr Gorgas! For those who may not know, Mr. Gorgas became somewhat of a sensation this weekend when he had his debut as a Music Arranger for the Ohio State University Marching Band. He arranged this past week’s halftime show which ended up going viral, gaining the attention of current and former astronauts and NASA. I wanted to take a second to say “I know him” and you do too! He’s not the kind of guy to draw attention to himself so I figured I needed to share his accomplishments with his students If you get a chance, please tell him congrats!
