Good Morning Marching Tiger Families, It is was a wonderful weekend hopefully filled with memories that will be kept forever. The kiddos did a fantastic job and the boosters were amazing as well. Thank you for such a memorable weekend of music and friendship. Before we breakdown the final weekend of the competitive marching season, I'd like to explain playoff football band expectations. For the playoffs we do not march our competition show, we let the final performance at SMBF stand as the last performance. Instead, we will use music that we are prepping for our London trip and other selections we try to reserve for later in the season when not preparing for a large trip. Because we aren't performing our competition show, we no longer rehearse our 6 hours throughout the week. Instead we will rehearse outside on Fridays during class and a brief afterschool rehearsal before we load and depart. If weather becomes a factor, we will adjust what day we go outside. The attendance expectations for playoff football is simple, if there is a football game, all members of the band band are expected to attend. Playoff football is a reality of living in Pickerington and the additional games each year should be expected when looking at the band calendar. With that said, please use the Planned Absence Forms for any family events/emergencies that might come up. Friday @ Reynoldsburg We will have a dress rehearsal after school, students are not permitted to leave campus between the dress rehearsal and buses departing. This expectation is simply to keep kids safe and limit the opportunities for things to go wrong due to young drivers and an unnecessary sense of urgency. Plan accordingly Friday and Saturday Uniforms Purple pants and black socks for the game on Friday. White pants and socks for Saturday. Hair always needs to up or pulled back into a bun. Ear rings are also something I keep asking kids to remove. Small studs are perfectly fine, we do not want students wearing dangly or hooped ear rings. We want to look uniform, not pretty! Friday Timeline 3:10 - Dress rehearsal on the practice field 4:30 - Load/Snack/Change 5:30 - Load buses 6:15 - Arrive at Reynoldsburg HS (Livingston campus) 7:00 - Kickoff TBD - Arrive at PHSC (Color guard Final Room Clean-up) Saturday SMBF Timeline 10:00 - Dress Rehearsal 11:00 - Load/Snack/Change 12:00 - Depart For Hilliard Bradley 1:00 - Arrive at Hilliard Bradley 2:00 - Warm-up 3:00 - Perform 3:30 - Stay on track for Central Crossing performance followed by awards (Students who need to leave for The Diary of Anne Frank performance in the evening are dismissed as soon as we finish performing. Marching Tiger Families, We have a busy week! Friday we have Senior Night at the football game which will change some of our normal Pregame activities and a double competition on Saturday. I'll go though the FYI for the weekend in chronological order for everyone. Senior Night Senior Parents, your report time to the field is 5:40. The Athletic Department handout says 5:40 report, I would encourage all the senior parents to be in the stadium by 5:30, just to make sure there is enough time to organize the line-up. When you arrive Lisa Mezquita will be there to help arrange you in alpha order for the presentation of Seniors. The presentation begins at 6:00pm. The band Seniors will join you at this time as well. After the senior recognition the seniors will head back to the band room to prepare for Senior Night shenanigans. The Freshmen-Junior classes will perform the SSB. Friday Timeline
3:10 Dress Rehearsal, turf field (no seniors) 3:50 Dismiss 5:30 Band form block at Flagpoles. (Seniors and families report to track) 5:45 Parade to stadium, form tunnel. 6:00 Senior Recognition begins 6:45 Band head back field for pregame. 6:50 Pregame 7:00 Kickoff Saturday Double Competition Our two competitions are both North East of Pickerington. Competition 1 is at White Field hosted by Newark High School. N. 11th St. Newark Ohio 43055. Take note the parking for spectators can get interesting at Newark. There is handicap parking close to the stadium but the majority of parking is a shuttle from the HS to the stadium. It is free and runs frequently. I would allow some additional time to make sure you are not rushed by the shuttle service. After Competition 1 we will travel to Dillion State Park. The boosters rented a shelter house where we will serve a picnic style meal for the kids. I heard at the booster meeting the donations for this are going well, but please feel free to check with Emily if there are any additional or last minute needs. Specifically we be at Big Run Shelter House at Dillion State park. Natural resource Rd 1, Zanesville Ohio, 43701 Students are encouraged to bring blankets for a picnic, yard games/tailgating games are allowed. We have storage under the semi trailer to house things like corn hole boards and other activities. (No Lawn darts, please!!!) Our final stop of the night will be to Tri-Valley High School. This will be our last stop before returning home. Tri-Valley High School is located at 46 E Muskingum Ave, Dresden, OH 43821 Parking for this competition is much easier on the spectators and honestly has a great viewing point for anyone that can't climb steps. Spectators enter from the top of the stadium which allows spectators will limited mobility to have a better view of the field from above than other typical stadiums. Tri-Valley Stadium is on a hillside.
